John Castell recently joined the Thames Valley property team as a partner. John is well known within the region, having worked for Shoosmiths in Reading before becoming managing partner of Garretts. He then joined Olswang, before moving on to the City office of Crowell & Moring, a substantial US law firm with offices in London, New York, Washington and Los Angeles, He will continue to work closely with Crowell & Moring to develop pan-Atlantic opportunities for clients, both in the UK and US.
John has extensive experience of all aspects of commercial property, but with particular emphasis on the real estate requirements of corporate clients. He has represented many in connection with their UK property requirements, including advising on development, investment and portfolio management issues. John also advises on the property aspects of corporate transactions.
His interests are theatre, golf, tennis, rugby (season ticket holder at London Irish) and skiing. He watches with interest the careers of his two adult 'children': his daughter has her own film production company and is a multi-media adviser for various arts organisations and his son is an award-winning writer of musical theatre.
