A Cambridge graduate, David qualified with Boodle Hatfield and spent several years as legal adviser at Logica. He joined Manches in 1989 and became a partner in 1990, where he divides his time between the Oxford and Reading offices.
David heads the Corporate Department in the Oxford office and carries out a full range of corporate work, including mergers and acquisitions, buy-outs, fundraising rounds, joint ventures and reorganisations.
Recent deals include acting for HSBC who provided the debt funding for the acquisition by Deutsche Bank's real estate investment arm of the Four Pillars Hotel Group, acting on the £17million sale of Snowdrop Systems to Sage, acting for the sellers on the £14million sale of Philip Allan Publishers to Hodder Headline and acting for two local technology companies on fundraising rounds led respectively by Close Ventures and Rab Capital. David also specialises in the information technology and publishing sectors, acting for a number of IT companies and publishers in and around the Thames Valley.
David has been consistently rated in a major independent guide to the legal profession (Chambers) as one of the leading corporate lawyers in the South East region, being described in their most recent editions as 'straightforward, intelligent and responsive' and 'incredibly capable', as well as someone who 'addresses the business concerns as well as the legal issues'.
David is married to a teacher and has two daughters. He enjoys golf, cricket, skiing and blues music. He treasures his Elmore James record collection. His ambition is to persuade his daughters to take an interest in sport.
